As the world of online gaming rapidly changes, probably fair technology has emerged as a game-changer, setting new ethical benchmarks and nurturing trust among players. It transparently determines the outcomes of online games, effectively eliminating any chance of manipulation.

Grasping the Basics of Provably Fair Technology

Provably technology is a groundbreaking innovation in the online world, designed to instil trust and fairness. This hash is shared with the player, ensuring transparency.

After the game, players can use this hash to verify that the outcome was predetermined and not altered.

The Crucial Role of Trust: Significance of Provably Fair in Online Gaming

The absence of physical interaction in these digital platforms often raises concerns about fairness and transparency, leading to scepticism among players. This is where the revolutionary role of provably technology becomes crucial.

By employing cryptographic algorithms, it ensures that game outcomes are determined before the game starts and remain unaltered during play. This method provides a mechanism where players can verify the fairness of each game independently.

The implementation of this technology is a game-changer. This level of transparency does wonders in strengthening the bonds within the gaming community. Players feel a deeper sense of belonging and loyalty, fully aware they’re part of a fair and unbiased gaming world.

It’s not just about building trust. It reassures players that they’re getting a deal, which is key to the industry’s continued growth and energy.

Demystifying Provably Fair Technology: An In-depth Analysis of the Algorithms

Provably technology operates on sophisticated algorithms that function as the guardians of fairness. At its heart is a cryptographic algorithm, typically a hash function, which generates a unique, encrypted outcome for each game before it starts.

This encrypted outcome, or hash, is like a sealed envelope of the game’s result, provided to the player beforehand. Once the game concludes, the original value used to create the hash is revealed, allowing players to verify that the outcome was pre-determined and unchanged.

This process is akin to a digital lock-and-key system, where the key is only revealed after the game, ensuring that neither players nor operators can tamper with the game’s outcome.

Real-World Impact: Analyzing Successful Provably Fair Implementations

The implementation of provably technology has revolutionized the industry, exemplified by several notable case studies. One such example is a well-known online casino platform that introduced provably algorithms in its games, resulting in a remarkable increase in user trust and participation. Players were able to verify each game’s fairness independently, leading to heightened confidence and a surge in user engagement.

Another case involves a multiplayer online game that integrated provably technology to ensure the randomness of in-game events. This move significantly reduced player complaints about bias or unfair advantages, fostering a more equitable environment.

Overcoming Obstacles: Tackling Challenges in Provably Fair Systems

The integration of provably fair technology in online gaming, while revolutionary, is not without its challenges and limitations. Here are some key points:

  1. The technical intricacies of provably systems can often be overwhelming, especially for players who aren’t tech-savvy. The cryptographic backbone of these systems, although crucial for ensuring fairness, can seem complex and intimidating at first glance. Developers are working hard to streamline user interfaces, focusing on making the verification process more approachable and easy to understand for everyone.
  1. The adoption of this technology can be costly for gaming platforms. Industry efforts focus on developing cost-effective solutions while maintaining system integrity.
  1. As platforms grow, ensuring the scalability of provably fair systems is challenging. Ongoing research is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency of these algorithms to support larger platforms.
  1. Navigating varying global regulations can be complex. Continuous dialogue with regulatory bodies is crucial to align provably fair systems with legal standards.

Predicting the Future: Trends and Innovations in Provably Fair Gaming

The advancement of provably fair technology is revolutionizing online gaming, driven by an increasing demand for transparency and fairness. This technology’s integration is becoming more widespread, signalling a shift towards standard industry practice.

Additionally, the combination of provably fair systems with blockchain technology promises to further enhance security and provide immutable records of outcomes. This evolution is expected to bolster player confidence significantly, thereby boosting participation in online gaming.

The post HTTP Error 414 – Request URI too Long appeared first on UpDo-Check.

]]>
The 414 Request-URI Too Large error occurs when a Web server identifies that the HTTP data stream sent by a client, such as a Web browser or a monitoring robot like CheckUpDown, contains a URL that exceeds the server’s acceptable byte size. Web servers typically allow a generous URL length limit, such as 2048 to 4096 characters. If an unusually long URL is used, it’s advisable to attempt using shorter versions to identify the server’s limit. In cases where a lengthy URL is necessary, server reconfiguration might be required to accommodate such URLs. Web servers implement a reasonable limit to handle improperly programmed clients that may send excessively large and non-functional URLs.

Causes of the 414 Error in Web Servers

The 414 error usually stems from the server’s limitations on the acceptable length of URLs. Most Web servers set a generous limit on URL length to accommodate standard requests. However, if a URL significantly exceeds this limit, it may trigger the 414 error. This can happen if a Web page is poorly coded, resulting in abnormally long hyperlinks, or if a client system sends an unusually long URL.

The HTTP Cycle and 414 Error Occurrence

The HTTP cycle, which involves obtaining an IP address from a site’s URL, opening an IP socket connection, and writing and receiving an HTTP data stream, is crucial in Web browsing. The 414 error manifests in the last stage of this cycle when the client receives an HTTP status code recognized as ‘414’, indicating the URL length issue.

General Strategies for Resolving 414 Errors

This error is rare in most Web traffic, especially when the client system is a browser. The links that cause this error are generally malformed. If the client system is not a browser, resolving the issue involves examining the client’s actions and discussing with the ISP and Web server vendor why the URL size is being rejected.

Specific Approaches to Resolve 414 Errors in CheckUpDown

In the context of CheckUpDown, the occurrence of a 414 error typically indicates a problem with our system programming or the Web server managing your site. The URL length sent in our HTTP data stream is usually within acceptable limits. If this error arises, users should contact us for support, as the resolution often involves coordination with ISPs and Web server software vendors to identify the precise cause of the error.

Demystifying HTTP 417 Error: Causes and Solutions https://www.checkupdown.com/http-status-error-417/ Thu, 08 Dec 2022 14:49:48 +0000 https://www.checkupdown.com/?p=248 The web server responsible for hosting the website believes that the HTTP data stream transmitted by the client, whether it’s…

The post Demystifying HTTP 417 Error: Causes and Solutions appeared first on UpDo-Check.

]]>
The web server responsible for hosting the website believes that the HTTP data stream transmitted by the client, whether it’s your web browser or our CheckUpDown robot, carries an ‘Expect’ request that cannot be fulfilled. This ‘Expect’ request is quite broad and not precisely defined within the HTTP protocol. It has the flexibility to outline multiple expectations, each of which might be perceived and executed differently by various web servers.

Fixing 417 errors – general

417 errors, also known as “Expectation Failed” messages, are not a common sight in daily Web interactions, especially when the client system is a Web browser. Usually, the client system is not designed to use an ‘Expect’ request, making the occurrence of this error less frequent.

Nevertheless, an encounter with a 417 error can be complex to resolve, primarily when the client system is not a Web browser. The root of the problem lies within the client system trying to perform an operation that leads to the Web server failing the ‘Expect’ request. This situation necessitates a thorough examination of the client’s actions and a meaningful discussion with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to understand why the Web server is declining the ‘Expect’ request.

  • Scrutinize the Client System’s Actions: An in-depth analysis of the client system’s actions can provide insights into what might be causing the ‘Expect’ request to fail. Understanding these actions can be the first step toward resolving this error;
  • Engage in Discourse with Your ISP: Communicating with your ISP is another critical step. It is important to discuss with them why the web server is failing to meet the ‘Expect’ request sent by the client system. They can provide an expert perspective and targeted solutions;
  • Stay Updated: Ensure that both the client system and the server software are updated to the latest version. Sometimes, outdated software can be the culprit behind these errors.

Remember: Identification and thorough understanding of 417 errors are the foundation steps toward their resolution. Equip yourself with the right knowledge and be patient in your troubleshooting efforts.

Fixing 417 errors – CheckUpDown

In the broad spectrum of HTTP errors, 417 Expectation Failed is usually an anomaly. It is not something you would usually stumble upon in your regular web interactions, especially when using a typical web browser as your client system. The architecture of web browsers is such that they do not often utilize an ‘Expect’ request, making the appearance of a 417 error quite rare.

Man working with code

However, if the client system is not a web browser, the issue might require a more meticulous investigation. Determining what the client system is trying to do is the first step. Once this information is at hand, the troubleshooting process involves reaching out to the Internet Service Provider (ISP), exploring why the web server is not fulfilling the ‘Expect’ request initiated by the client.

Step-wise, the process to troubleshoot a 417 error involves:

  • Dissecting Client Actions: Launch a comprehensive analysis of the actions being carried out by the client system. This step can reveal valuable insights into what might be prompting the web server to fail in meeting the ‘Expect’ request;
  • Discussing with ISP: Engage in structured dialogue with your ISP, illuminating them about the error and discussing the possible reasons why the web server is not satisfying the ‘Expect’ request. ISPs typically have a more in-depth view of these issues and can offer potential remedies for the same.

As a service that vigilantly monitors sites for HTTP errors like 417, CheckUpDown is designed to ensure such errors do not plague your account. If a 417 error does materialize, it could potentially point to a programming shortcoming in our systems or the web server managing the site. It’s crucial to note that CheckUpDown does not employ the ‘Expect’ request as the aim is to extract the entire content of the URL requested to be monitored, devoid of any precondition.

In the event of a 417 error, immediate contact with CheckUpDown (preferably via email) is recommended. Since the resolution of 417 errors is beyond the purview of users, CheckUpDown takes up the responsibility to interact with the ISP and the web server software vendor to pinpoint the exact origin of the error. This collaborative approach helps in effective troubleshooting and ensures the smooth functionality of services.

417 errors in the HTTP cycle

The HTTP protocol operates via a systematic and sophisticated cycle, involving several steps to facilitate communication between the client system such as a web browser or a monitoring robot like CheckUpDown, and the web server. Here’s a detailed insight into these steps, culminating in understanding when the 417 error might come into play:

  1. IP Address Acquisition: The first step involves the client system procuring an Internet Protocol (IP) address from the name of the IP linked to the site. To put it simply, the client system needs to determine the IP address corresponding to the site URL, minus the ‘http://’ prefix. The domain name servers (DNSs) facilitate this lookup and enable the conversion of the IP name to the IP address;
  2. Creating an IP Socket Connection: Following the acquisition of the IP address, the client system undertakes to open an IP socket connection to that specific IP address. This step forms the basis of communication between the client system and the web server;
  3. HTTP Data Stream Composition: After successfully initiating the IP socket connection, the client system then writes an HTTP data stream through that socket. The HTTP data stream is a form of message sent from the client to the web server, indicating the requisite actions the client would like the web server to perform;
  4. Receiving HTTP Data Stream: The web server then sends back an HTTP data stream in response to the client system. The data stream comprises various status codes, the values of which are derived from the HTTP protocol;
  5. Parsing of Status Codes: The final step involves the client system parsing this returned data stream to understand the status codes and other pertinent information it contains.

The 417 error comes into play during this last step. It ensues when the client system recognizes the received HTTP status code as ‘417’. This essentially means that the client system sent an ‘Expect’ request to the web server that didn’t meet the latter’s criteria, leading to the HTTP 417 status code – Expectation Failed. Understanding this mechanism helps demystify the occurrence of 417 errors, making it easier to tackle them.

Conclusion

In summary, the website’s web server has come across an ‘Expect’ request within the HTTP data stream sent by the user, whether it’s a web browser or our CheckUpDown robot. Unfortunately, the server is unable to satisfy this ‘Expect’ request. This particular request is noteworthy for its broad and somewhat vague definition within the realm of the HTTP protocol, granting it the ability to express numerous anticipations, each susceptible to diverse interpretations by various web servers.

Here are the main indicators:

The number of unique visitors. You have access to information in the context of any time interval – from hours to years.
The time spent by the visitor on the site. The higher it is – the better.
Depth of page views. Indicates how many pages per visit a visitor views.
Bounce rate. Google services count them differently, but if a person enters a page and immediately leaves – it’s bad.
Transitions within the site. If the site is adapted, filled with content and it is in order with internal linking – this figure will be higher.
Transitions from external sources. Important for the rank of the site indicator because it indirectly indicates its authority.
Data on the target audience (TA). Sodiodemographic data, geo, interests and more.
User actions. Blog comments, product reviews.
“Goal attainment” shows the extent to which visitors complete the planned action: fill out lead forms, order calls, leave requests.
Technical indicators: total load on the site, page load speed, type of operating system used by the visitor, etc.

Why do you need web analytics?
The purpose of web analytics is to improve user interaction with your website. There are no perfect websites. But with web analytics you can make your site better and more comfortable for visitors.

How web analytics can help:

Evaluate the quality of incoming traffic (how much the audience of visitors corresponds to your target audience).
Identify and eliminate technical, design or content flaws in the site.
Identify and confirm the effectiveness of a particular advertising channel.
Reduce the cost of attracting a user/customer.
Measure the actions of users, compile them and prescribe portraits of the target audience of the site.
Find ways to increase conversion to sales, reduce the cost of attracting a customer, or other meaningful indicators.

Basic Web Analysis Techniques
Here are 7 key categories for web site analysis:

Traffic. Determining the number of unique visitors, identifying reasons for decreasing and ways to increase traffic.

Traffic sources (where users get to the site). Here the efficiency of various advertising channels, the cost of attracting a client in each of them, the most effective requests are evaluated.

TARGET AUDIENCE. Information is collected about the sociodemographic characteristics of visitors, their hobbies and interests, activity in various channels and communities.

Functionality. Calculate the pages of the site where users are most active, and on their basis predict scenarios for the CA behavior.

Errors. This is primarily a “technical audit” of the site: identifying double and dead pages, broken links, the causes of slow performance, etc.

E-commerce: analysis of all sales metrics. Beginning with the time a visitor spends to get acquainted with the product and ending with the average bill. Here the most “popular” products and the most purchasing customers are revealed.

Competitors. Competitor traffic is analyzed, intersections with existing target audience are identified, a list of the most popular products is determined, etc.

Types of web analytics

Standard web analytics
ONLY the site and its performance are analyzed. The main data comes from installed Google Analytics counters. Additional information can be obtained with the help of log-analytics programs, which collect and store server-side data about your website visits.

End-to-end web analytics
Most businesses use end-to-end web analytics: it provides much more information about their users. Not only “who they are and what they like”, but also which ads they click on, how much time they spend on product pages, what actions they perform on the site, at what time they pay. In fact, end-to-end analytics combines traditional web-analytics with functionality of payment and CRM-systems, database management systems (like MySQL) and advertising accounts. End-to-end web analytics is what gives you the most accurate assessment of the effectiveness of an advertising channel and directs the budgets in the right direction.

A modern website can contain the following types of content: text, images, audio and video. However, at the dawn of the Internet, bandwidth was limited, and it was text that took up the least amount of space. The more original the text (the fewer repetitions and borrowings it contained) – the better it was for the position of the site in search results. Therefore, modern search algorithms still evaluate the quality of the site, including the uniqueness of the text, located on it. And it is unique texts are the main way to promote the site on the Internet.

Why do I need unique texts?
For a visitor to find your site on the Internet for a particular search query, you must meet several conditions. The first is that the site must correspond to the requested topic and contain the words or their combinations. Secondly, the texts on the site must have a high degree of uniqueness. It is measured as a percentage, a good text is text with a score above 90%. Third: the text itself should be interesting / useful to the reader – then people will stay on the site longer.

According to the totality of these three indicators, search engine algorithm ranks the site (determines its usefulness) and puts it above or below in search results. And the unique content of the site – one of the main criteria.

The “age” of the text also matters. If you publish unique text, and then it will be copied by your competitors – the original will be considered your version, and theirs – a copy/plagiarism. Sites with a large amount of borrowed text are “at the bottom” of search results or even excluded from it. Sites with unique texts are more frequently included in the “top” of search results, and it is these sites that advertising services prefer to advertise on.

Where to place unique texts on the site?
Top-priority places to post unique content – regular sections of the site. Most often these are: the home page, the “About Us”, “Company News”, etc.

If you have an online store, unique texts with relevant keywords should be added to the descriptions of product categories (otherwise you will lose share of search traffic). A good option would be a separate section with articles (usually called “Blog”), where you can post useful texts with descriptions of products/services and internal linking – a link to the cards of specific products. This way you increase the “weight” of the internal pages and increase the conversion rate to sales.

What else do search robots take into account when analyzing the articles on uniqueness?
Search engines are interested in giving visitors the most relevant and useful sites. After all, the longer the visitor will stay on the site, the more advertising he can be shown, and search engine advertising services will receive more benefits.

Therefore, in addition to the percentage of uniqueness of the text crawlers analyze:

Novelty of the topic used on the site.
The similarity with the keyword queries used in the text of the words and synonyms.
The structure of the article: the presence of paragraphs, headings and subheadings, lists, etc.

Checking the uniqueness of the text with specialized services
Before uploading to the site should always check the text for uniqueness using third-party services.

These services not only evaluate the uniqueness of the text in percent, but also indicate borrowed fragments, and even provide links to sites where there is an intersection with your text. This means that you will have the opportunity to edit the unique content of the site before uploading and to improve it.

How to improve the uniqueness of the text
If you’re not a journalist or copywriter, writing unique content from scratch can seem like a daunting task. But if you resort to tricks, you can improve the uniqueness of your content. Here’s a simple checklist for improving your text:

Write the text and check its uniqueness using the services mentioned above.
Find any marked intersections with other people’s content.
Try to change the word order of the sentences and replace the words and combinations of words “found” in plagiarism with synonyms.

If the service indicates that whole sentences or paragraphs are not original – try to rewrite them in your own words, keeping the overall meaning (try re-typing).

Change the shingle pitch. Anti-plagiarism services scan texts in blocks of words (shingles). Usually in such a block of 2 words. Therefore, replacing the second word or adding a new term to the “pair” – you can disrupt the algorithm, and it will consider the schingle original.

Add a piece of unique text. Services check the entire volume of the article, and if you just increase the amount of text at the expense of a unique – the percentage of originality will be higher. So just write an extra piece of text, or take it from a foreign site and translate it through an online translator.

Edit the text and remove anything unnecessary. If a sentence or part of it does not have a clear semantic meaning (contains a lot of “water”) – feel free to remove it.

Targeted advertising helps you “hit” the right target audience. When setting up your ads, you can specify dozens of parameters. Gender, age, marital status, income level, interests, even the location of the people to whom your ad will be shown.

The goals and objectives of targeted advertising
Consider the purposes for which targeting advertising can be used.

Increasing recognition. This goal is appropriate if your company is concerned with brand development, wants to broadcast its values to the audience, or simply – to make a product that is not yet known to anyone recognizable.

Improve the quality and frequency of customer contact. Allows you to target people who already know about your company or product. This goal is appropriate, for example, if you are launching a new product line or opening a new chain establishment.

Increase in sales. This goal is achieved with the help of performance marketing, in which an important role is given to targeting advertising. Together with other tools, it allows you to achieve clear, measurable indicators.

Contact with the audience. Targeted advertising is set up for a specific target audience with the right parameters, who are already interested in buying your product or service.

Testing different audiences. In this case, you can divide your audience into segments (say, single, married and families with children), set up on each group targeted ads and test their effectiveness (conversion rate).

How targeting works
The accuracy (and effectiveness) of targeting is based on the collection of user information. There is no magic in it: when someone signs up to a social network (for example, Facebook) – he fills in the profile data: year of birth, place of residence, gender, marital status, etc..

All this data is collected by the system in one large database (with the user’s permission, of course). And when you create a campaign in the advertising cabinet – in the targeting settings to specify the business parameters of interest: the same sex, age, place of residence, etc.. So advertising will be shown only to those users who are interested in it.

Advantages of targeting advertising
These include:

Precise targeting. Your ads will be shown to the CA, whose size (coverage) you define yourself, by specifying in the advertising settings the criteria you want. By setting the values of age, gender, marital status, hobbies and other parameters, you are clearly delineating the circle of people who can see your targeting ads and become interested in your proposal.

Personalization. As a rule, the CA of any product can be divided into narrower segments. In each segment – identify people’s preferences, requests or pains. And create a personalized ad based on these parameters. By changing the headline, images (creatives), and text summaries – you can get the most accurate targeting in the expectations of the audience of each segment.

Testing and optimization. Each ad campaign allows you to change its content on the fly, based on real-time impressions statistics collected. You can change the headline and audience parameters, or even turn off ads if they cost too much to run (as compared to other ad variants). And if the cost of impressions is low – you can also increase the budget on the fly and get more leads.

It’s easy to find customers. Even without registered groups in social networks, with the help of some platforms (like myTarget), you can easily find your audience. You can find clients in communities of interest, identify and “borrow” your competitors’ audience, set up targeting on people with specified parameters (and those who are similar to them). Targeted advertising platforms provide all the opportunities for businesses to sell their products quickly and easily.

Types of Targeted Advertising
In addition to ad formats (there are quite a few), targeting is distinguished by “targeting” settings, i.e. – by the categories to which advertising is adjusted. The main ones are:

Sociodemographic metrics. This is the “basis” of any ad settings, because this is where you specify gender, age, marital status, income and other important data.

Geography (regionality). Here you can set up not only the exact location (down to the neighborhood or even street), but also the locations that the user has recently visited or where they are regularly. This setting works especially well with physical outlets (stores, cafes, etc.).

Behavioral factors. The service allows you to tune in to people with certain online behavior. For example, those who frequently visit some sites or make online purchases. You can also “pull” those who are already interested in your or similar products (typed them into the search).
